(Jan. 29, 1955 – Nov. 9, 2016) A four-year starter at the University of Oregon, Greg Ballard twice won All-conference honors and was All-American forward in 1977 when he averaged 26.7 points and 9.8 rebounds per game. He led the Pac-8 Conference in scoring twice and helped the Ducks to a 74-41 record and three NIT appearances from 1974-77.
Ballard ranks as Oregon’s career leader in rebounds (1,114), is third in scoring (1,829), and set a school record with 43 points in one game. A first round draft choice of the Washington Bullets, he was a member of their world championships team in 1978 and finished his NBA career with 9,953 points (12.4 per game) in 10 seasons.
Greg Ballard was inducted into the University of Oregon Hall of Fame in 1993 and now the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 1996.
