Chester Newton (September 18, 1903 – May 11, 1966) was part of the first group of Oregon-born wrestlers to reach the Olympics by way of Oregon State University.

Newton grew up in Canby and wrestled for Oregon Agricultural College (now Oregon State) in the early 1920s. The Aggies were undefeated in dual meets and won the Northwest championship every year of his college career.  He also competed for the Multnomah Athletic Club.  He had the misfortune of having to compete with fellow Hall-of-Famer Robin Reed in the same weight class.  That duo met in the US championships in 1924 with Newton winning, but Reed would prevail when the two met in the Gold Medal match at the Paris Olympics. The two remained at odds when Reed later became head coach in Corvallis

Chester would take a turn at coaching at OAC as well as Tillamook High School and Oregon City High School during his teaching career.

Chester Newton was inducted to the Oregon State University Athletics Hall of Fame in 1991. The Corvallis Gazette-Times named Newton to it's All-Time Oregon State wresting team in 2018.
