Teri Mariani (born August 16, 1952) has spent a life committed to athletic success and service as a player, coach and administrator and a valuable member of the Portland State University community.

Mariani came of age in Portland during the early days of Title IX and took advantage of every new opportunity available to women and girls in sports. She is a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy and a 1976 graduate of Portland State. An outstanding 3-sport athlete at PSU, she helped lead the softball team to the national tournament as captain and led the volleyball team to consecutive national tournaments, including two top 10 finishes.  She played three professional seasons, including with Portland's first professional softball team in 1976.

Teri spent more than half her lifetime at Portland State University.  After playing for the Vikings, she coached the softball program for 29 seasons, and her 663 wins are the most by any PSU coach in any sport. Mariani sent nine teams to post-season and placed nationally 4 times. In 1991, the Vikings placed third in the nation. Mariani was named West Regional Coach of the Year that season and again in 1992.

During her tenure at PSU, she also served the athletics department as associate athletic director, interim athletic director and has had two stints as senior woman administrator.  Mariani became the youngest person ever to be selected to the Portland Metropolitan Softball Association Hall of Fame for both her playing and coaching contributions to the sport. In retirement, Teri became an announcer for volleyball, basketball and softball. She called the Little League Softball World Series games in Portland in 2002.

Teri Mariani is a member of the Portland State University Hall of Fame and has been honored with the National Association for Girls and Women in Sports Pathfinder Award, representing the state of Oregon.
