Tournament Golf Foundation (TGF) is a non-profit organization responsible for the management and operations of the LPGA tour’s longest-running non-major event -- the Portland Classic.
Since 1972, the Portland Classic has become the largest and premier annual professional golf event in the Pacific Northwest, drawing the top women golfers from around the world to the Rose City, primarily at Columbia Edgewater Country Club.
The sponsors have changed over the years, but the tradition of giving has never ended, $18 million plus as of 2024.
TGI itself is a group of 40 area businessmen and their wives that have a history of supporting LPGA events. The foundation oversees all aspects of the event including player invitations and distribution of funds to charities. This group works every year to involve sponsors, sell tickets, and run pro-am spots to raise the necessary capital to fund the purse and to run the championship event. Three worthy charities reap the financial rewards. The designated charity recipients generally revolve around services to children and families, particularly involving healthcare.
