(Born July 7, 1972) Chari was born in 1972 in Milwaukie and began gymnastics in 1978. A product of Eugene’s Churchill High School, she led Oregon State’s Gymnastics team to the NCAA championships four times. The Beavers took 4th place in 1991, 6th in 1992 and 7th in 1993 and 1994. She is a Three-time selection to the Pac-10’s All-Conference and All-Academic teams and a Two-time Pac-10 Gymnast of The Year. In 1992, she became only the 2nd woman in NCAA history to post two perfect 10.0s in one meet. She duplicated that same feat in 1993. She achieved a total of eight perfect 10.0s in her collegiate career.
She holds many records at OSU in the all-around, bars and beam. In 1994, she received the American Award which honored the Nation’s top gymnast. Chari continued to participate in Gymnastics for several years after college, competing and placing high in the Elite Nationals. Now Chari Knight-Hunter is enjoying giving back to her sport through coaching a high school gymnastics team in New Jersey.
