Famous

[fey-muhs]

having a widespread reputation, usually of a favorable nature; renowned; celebrated.

How is someone selected for the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame?  You might have been a native Oregonian, born and raised on local sports and activities.  Perhaps a collegiate athlete at a state institution or a professional who came from elsewhere?  How about an Olympian who trained in Oregon and became part of their community?  An Oregon team, amateur or professional that excelled on a national level?  A beloved sportswriter, commentator or contributor to a sporting community?

The common thread is being known and celebrated somewhere in the big community of Oregon sports.

All of our 400+ inducted members of The Hall were nominated by someone else.  It could be friends, family, former teammates or former coaches.  The nominees pass through two rounds of voting by the OSHOF board of directors, invited guest voters and all inducted members.

Anyone can nominate a prospective member of The Hall by becoming a member themselves.  Yearly membership is available anytime.  All members are invited to nominate in early spring.  The first ballots are cast in May and the induction ceremony itself occurs in the Fall.

Read through the biographies of our inductees.  Pick someone you have never heard of and you will find out why someone found their exploits famous enough for this recognition.

Remember, our INDUCTEES are whom we celebrate but anyone can become a MEMBER of the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.
