Pat Casey’s name is synonymous with success in college baseball, especially during his tenure as head coach of the Oregon State Beavers. Over the 24 seasons at OSU, Casey built one of the most dominant programs in the nation, guiding the Beavers to three College World Series championships—in 2006, 2007, and 2018.
Born in McMinnville, Oregon, and a standout athlete at Newberg High School, Casey’s connection to Oregon is deep-rooted. Before his remarkable coaching career, he played at the University of Portland and then professionally for seven seasons in the minor leagues. His passion for the game led him to a head coaching role at George Fox University before arriving at OSU in 1995.
Casey was named Coach of the Year by Baseball America and NCBWA and earned Pac-12 Coach of the Year honors on multiple occasions. Beyond the wins, Casey’s impact is felt in the lives of the players he mentored, many of whom went on to professional careers. Over 100 of his players were drafted into the MLB.
Casey continues to serve OSU as a Senior Associate Athletics Director, where he remains a mentor to coaches and an ambassador for the program he helped build. His influence on the sport is immeasurable, and his legacy as one of college baseball’s greatest coaches is secure.
