(born October 23, 1972) Tiffeny Milbrett grew up watching the original Portland Timbers while her mother coached and played herself.
She says her love of the game is “In my heart and in my blood.”
A three-sport athlete at Hillsboro High School, Tiffeny exploded onto the soccer world as an end-to-end goal scorer. The 2-time Parade All-American scored 131 times in her prep career.
She chose the University of Portland where she already knew legendary coach Clive Charles from playing at his camps and in his FC Portland program.
In 4 seasons on the bluff, Milbrett scored 103 times, good for #3 on the all-time collegiate list. She was a finalist for national player of the year and led the Pilots to the 1994 Final Four.
The spectacle and glory of the Olympic games made her want to compete against the world’s greatest athletes.
She would get that opportunity immediately following her college career, first at the 1995 World Cup then as part of the Gold Medal-winning team USA at the Atlanta games. Milbrett scored the game winning goal against China in that final.
Milbrett continued her goal scoring, big moment ways with the National team, she was the leading scorer for the 1999 World Cup champions and was the first on the dog pile after Brandi Chastain’s historic game winner.
All in all, Milbrett collected 206 caps with the national side, scoring 100 goals and dishing 64 assists.
When she took her talents to the professional ranks, Tiffeny was the top offensive player in the debut season of the WUSA and helped FC Gold Pride win the 2010 WPS championship. She also played in pro leagues in Japan, Canada, and Sweden.
Milbrett has continued to lead her sport, now as a coach and developmental director, always looking to give athletes the tools to grow and improve the game.
Already a member of the National Soccer Hall of Fame and a proud Timbers and Thorns season ticket holder, we welcome Tiffeny Milbrett to the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame.
