Joy Selig-Petersen – Gymnastics

Joy Selig-PetersenJoy Selig Petersen (b. Sep 12, 1968) was one of the nation’s top collegiate gymnasts from 1988-91, earning NCAA titles in both the balance beam and floor exercise while at Oregon State.

Selig moved to Corvallis from Placerville, Calif., and finished second at the NCAA championships in the floor exercise. As a sophomore, she won the balance beam, and won the beam and floor exercise as a junior. As a senior, she finished seventh in the all-around and led OSU to fourth place in the team competition. Following the NCAA championships, which were held in Corvallis in 1991, she was named the nation’s top gymnast and also participated in the World University Games.

Selig Petersen was inducted to the Oregon State University Sports Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Oregon Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
